Program Overview

The Medicare cost report is an annual report required for Medicare certified institutional providers. The Medicare Cost Report 101 training provided a high level overview of the Medicare cost report while the advanced training will discuss and analyze the Medicare cost report in further detail focusing on the key areas that impact providers reimbursement.  It is recommended to take the Medicare Cost Report 101 training prior to the advnaced training for those who are new to Medicare cost reporting.

Key objectives of the advanced training are as follows:

• Review information required to assemble the Medicare cost report

• Provide an overview of the key areas on the cost report that drive
  Medicare reimbursement

• Walk through the calculations used to determine the Medicare 
  reimbursement key areas including DSH, Bad Debt, IME, GME, etc.

• Provide insight on what Medicare auditors sometime look for when
  performing audits

Craig Brondyke, Director

Craig is a Director in PwC’s Healthcare Advisory Practice based in Charlotte, North Carolina.  He is Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP) and member of the North Carolina Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).  Craig has over 12 years’ experience working at PwC focusing on Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement issues and regulatory matters.  He is the national lead for the firm’s post-acute care, shadow billing, and Medicare Bad Debt engagements and has performed reimbursement engagements for over 200 hospitals.  He also has experience performing cost report audits while working with a Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC).

Christine Paton, Senior Associate

Christine is a Senior Associate in PwC’s Healthcare Advisory Practice based in Seattle, Washington. She works in the firm’s Strategic Reimbursement Consulting group and has performed engagements in numerous reimbursement areas including; Medicare Bad Debt, Disproportionate Share, Shadow Billing, and other cost report areas.  Christine has also supported hospitals undergoing Medicare audits and worked directly with the Medicare Administrative Contractors (MAC).  Christine is a member of the Washington and Alaska Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) Chapter.
