Daniel J. McHale, Vice President, Healthcare Finance & Policy
Dan McHale leads advocacy and analysis of state health coverage programs and related hospital financing, including MassHealth, the Health Safety Net, the 340B drug program, and subsidized health insurance. During the COVID-19 emergency, Dan has supported MHA members in advocating for state and federal financial relief as well as regulatory accommodations to improve patient access and reduce hospital administrative burdens.
Dan joined MHA in 2002 and participated in the policy developments that reformed the state’s Uncompensated Care Pool and expanded health insurance to uninsured residents. He has been a passionate advocate to bolster and protect the state’s health coverage gains while ensuring Massachusetts hospitals have the necessary resources and financing to support the care they provide to patients. Dan works with MHA members participating in the MassHealth ACO program, supporting them in this new phase of reform. He also represents MHA in numerous state forums and advocacy coalitions related to healthcare financing and low-income health coverage.
Prior to joining MHA, Dan worked for the Massachusetts Division of Medical Assistance (Medicaid) and received his BA in economics from Fairfield University.
