Amy Smalarz is MHA’s Senior Director of Healthcare Education and Professional Development. She leads the association’s continuing education programs, as well as conference planning and implementation. She also leads the association’s growing professional development programs, including the recently launched HEALTHCAREers Academy. Amy has more than 20 years of experience in the healthcare and public health sectors with specialization in health systems, policy, education, and leadership.

Prior to joining MHA, Amy was Bureau Chief of Healthcare Access, Equity and Policy for the Department of Public Health Services (DPHS) in the State of New Hampshire. Prior to DPHS, she was an Assistant Teaching Professor and Program Director for the undergraduate public health program at UMass Lowell. She taught in both the undergraduate and graduate programs, including Healthcare Systems, Health Policy, and Leadership & Management.

Amy received her BA from Brandeis University, MHA from Simmons College, and PhD from the Heller School at Brandeis University.
