Massachusetts was one of the first states in the nation to practice “social prescribing” – in which care professionals refer patients to non-clinical services to support their wellbeing. In January 2020, the Mass Cultural Council launched a pilot in which eight cultural organizations were chosen to participate in CultureRx, designed to positively affect the health and well-being of the people of Massachusetts through participation with cultural organizations. The pilot’s intent was to demonstrate the protective and therapeutic effects of arts and culture.

This webinar will provide an overview of the pilot: implications of the program, and considerations for future opportunities to expand the practice of social prescribing.
