Requiring insurers and MassHealth to reimburse for the covered services provided by community health workers would allow healthcare providers to pay them more equitably, assist in efforts to diversify care teams to be more reflective of the populations they serve, and professionalize a role with an ever-increasing importance in safety net communities.
