MEMBER MOMENTS: Four-legged Caregivers, Milo and Opry

Lisa Scherber, the director of patient and family programs at Dana Farber Children’s Hospital Cancer Center, posted a photo this week of the six Child Life Specialists and one golden retriever (Opry) that support children and their families during medical experiences, helping them cope with all aspects of their treatment. They accomplish this through play, education, and emotional support.

“They work tirelessly to help create the magic, beauty, and joy in our Jimmy Fund Clinic,” Scherber wrote.
Shriner’s Children’s Boston posted a series of photos featuring Milo, one of the incredible therapy dogs at the facility that “bring comfort and smiles” to patients.
The Shriner’s organization writes: “Sometimes it takes more than just medicine, and at Shriners Children’s, we believe our furry friends provide their own special kind of care.”
