MEMBER MOMENTS: Openings from Around the State

Holyoke Medical Center announced the official opening of its Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
The PCU is designed to care for patients who are acutely ill and require frequent nursing interventions, while not needing the level of care provided in the Intensive Care Unit.
The new unit expands Holyoke’s capability to deliver high-quality, specialized care to patients requiring this level of support.
Boston Children’s Hospital has officially opened its new specialty care and outpatient surgery center in Needham.
The five-story facility contains, among other advances, an outpatient surgical unit with six operating rooms (expandable to 10), an interventional radiology unit, rehabilitation for orthopedic patients, and ophthalmology department.
An article in the Needham Observer notes that the facility “even has a a teaching kitchen for families whose children have chronic gastroenterological illnesses, food allergies, and sensitivities.”

Tufts Medical Center recently cut the ribbon on its expanded Pediatric Asian Clinic.
The clinic has grown from four to seven exam rooms, allowing Tufts’ teams to care for more families seeking pediatric care that respects cultural traditions and practices.
The facility’s after-hours, on-call service is answered by Chinese-speaking care staff.
