CAPE COD HEALTHCARE

Cape Cod quadruples in population during the summer months and the demands on its roadways, environment, hospitality sector, and especially its healthcare workforce and facilities explode. In response, Cape Cod Healthcare (CCH) announced this week that it reopened its urgent care centers in Orleans and Osterville. The seasonal facilities supplement the year-round urgent care sites CCH runs in Falmouth, Hyannis, Harwich, and Sandwich.

MASS GENERAL BRIGHAM

Mass General Brigham this week announced its new maternal health van that, according to this WBUR article, “brings additional support for parents who are at a high risk of complications after they give birth, whether that’s due to high blood pressure, trauma during birth, risk of postpartum depression, or a number of other concerns.” Boston Medical Center has been operating a similar postpartum mobile unit since 2021.

BAYSTATE HEALTH

Baystate Health is building a 90,000-square-foot community health center in Springfield on 10 acres of land that MassMutual donated to the project. MassMutual is also providing some financial support, according to this article. Construction begins in 2025, should be completed by 2027, and the facility is expected to serve 145,000 patients annually.
