Massachusetts Health & Hospital Association MEMBER MOMENTS: Visitors from D.C. at Sturdy and South Shore
Sturdy Health hosted U.S. Senator Edward Markey this week, along with State Senator Paul Feeney, State Representative Jim Hawkins, and City of Attleboro Mayor Cathleen DeSimone. The Sturdy leadership teams discussed how the behavioral health crisis is affecting hospitals and their emergency departments, and thanked Markey for his leadership in addressing the issue.
Last week, U.S. Representative Stephen Lynch joined South Shore Health President & CEO Allen Smith, M.D., to meet with staff and leadership to see first hand how the facility is tackling volume challenges. As Signature Brockton Hospital remains offline, and construction on the former Norwood Hospital halted, South Shore Hospital is seeing a massive influx of patients.
