TEFCA and the Future of Health Data Exchange
December 19 | 12:00 pm – 12:45 pm
This webinar will describe the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA) and its implementation. Congress directed the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (now the Assistant Secretary for Technology Policy) to collaborate with federal agencies within U.S. Health & Human Services to create a trusted exchange framework, including a common agreement among health information networks nationwide.
The Qualified Health Information Networks in TEFCA work with covered entities, business associates, state agencies, and others to facilitate secure data exchange for various use cases, including treatment, payment, healthcare operations, public health, government benefits determinations, and individual access services. The webinar will cover the structure of TEFCA, its governance, the “rules of the road,” and highlight legal issues relevant to hospitals and other participants.
